Around 200 dedicated volunteer law enforcers will be gathering together this weekend near Boston to learn about best practices of volunteer and reserve law enforcement from around the nation. The 2011 Massachusetts Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Conference will be held at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, MA. The massive volunteer law enforcer venue is being speerheaded by Framingham Police Auxiliary Captain Marc Spigel. The event is partially grant funded by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Citizen Corp. Program Grant via the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).
Giving two speeches, including the Saturday evening keynote, will be PoliceReserveOfficer.com founder and reserve expert Dr. Richard Weinblatt. The conference has also bought copies of Dr. Weinblatt’s “The Cop Doc’s Classic Writings on Police Reserves” book and a copy will be given for free to each conference attendee. Dr. Weinblatt will be available to sign the books for the attendees. Dr. Weinblatt is a nationally known expert on police reserves who is also the author of “Reserve Law Enforcement in the United States.”
